Club Youth Director Martha Jabour OAM invited members of the Club Board to attend Doonside on Tuesday 26th October to join a site visit of Grace’s Place which is now under construction.
Grace’s Place is a world-first trauma recovery centre for children of families who have been sadly affected by homicide. Grace’s Place is
named in honour of Grace Lynch, mother of Anita Cobby. The centre will also be the new head office for the Homicide Victims Support Group (Aust) Inc.

Rotarian Trudy Stevenson & husband James, together with Rotarian Mike Morgan attended the site visit which was primarily for members of the Homicide Victim Support Group to see the wonderful progress that has been made in realizing their vision. We were also
pleased to see Rotary Past District Governors John and Susan Wakefield there. Grace’s Place was John Wakefield’s partner project and Rotary clubs in our District (including Carlingford !) all made a significant contribution to the new development.

Site Manager Joseph explained that they are working from the rear to the front of the site. The framing is up for much of the site and yet to be completed for the residential facilities. Walking through the construction, one can get the feel of the amazing design that is being brought to life. There were several people with tears in their eyes.
The official opening of Grace's Place is expected in September 2022. The Rotary Club of Carlingford is a proud to be a supporter of this wonderful initiative.
