Penny is the Founder and CEO of The Overcomers Place, established in 2020 to address the need for an accessible and effective all addictions day program. The program follows a trauma-informed model that emphasizes abstinence through group therapy, skill-building, and peer support.The day groups are led by Specialist Addiction Counsellors with over 60 years of personal experience. The intensive group structure provides the necessary repetitive practice to develop and maintain new neural structures, crucial for successful long-term addiction recovery within a compassionate and connected community.Penny has been working as an Addiction and Trauma Recovery Specialist in Private Practice since 2005. Penny underwent extensive training for three years with Peter Levine's and Kathy Kain's SE Team, focusing on trauma's impact on the brain and its relation to addiction. With over 20 years of personal experience with addiction within her own family, Penny brings a unique perspective to her work.Penny also offers online therapy to clients in remote communities who lack access to direct counselling. An approved counsellor with the NDIS scheme and Victims Services Counselling (VS).
