The Club Annual General Meeting was held. Minutes and reports being circulated via email from Club Secretary Gary Hayman.
Following the AGM the regular club meeting was opened. Guests Fay Kitto, David Faulkner-Dick and Adithi Nagajuna all from Rotary North Rocks were in attendance.
The following reports were made:
1) Club Secretary Gary Hayman and President-elect Bass Bhaskaran attended the Rotary District 9685 AGM at St Joseph's Baulkham Hills on Saturday. Of note was that the Zone 8 Regionalisation project vote was successful with 20 0f 21 Districts in the Zone voting to proceed. More information to come.
2) PP Ed Strom provided the following update in relation to the Eugowra Flood Disaster.
On Monday last Bob O’Shea, his grandson Zac, a mate of Bobs (in a great 49 Ford pickup), Pam Hudson and her husband, the District Secretary and I went up and back to Eugowra with five vehicles full of non-perishable food, hand tools, electrical leads, power boards, power tools and a few odds and ends.
I was surprised when we arrived at the showground as there was no one there except a few Rotarians from Parkes and Orange and some support workers, I realised that we had arrived at the same time as the funeral for the lady that lost her life and everybody had attended that.
They do not require any more food or clothing but their immediate needs are plumbers and electricians. There would be the need , in the near future, for cleaners, painters and general roustabouts. On the material side of things they needed disinfectant, cleaning products, cleaning gear and mosquito repellent. They would also like some gift cards so they can purchase personal items. Pam Hudson was camping overnight and would get more details the next day.
So after a sausage sandwich, cooked by Rotarians of course, we headed back to Sydney. It will be a long road back for Eugowra and now the water has gone down, the work continues and will for many months. Thank you very much to the people who have contributed and made the trip to Eugowra.
3) Sandra Payne provided an update in relation to the makeover at the Telopea Community Centre. The overall plan has been wound back a little given that the garden is likely to be relocated in the future when the new Telopea Community Redevelopment is underway. The Dundas Area Neighbourhood Centre have locked the garden so it is no longer in use pending the garden makeover being completed.
Sandra is planning a working bee at the garden on Saturday 17th December and is inviting members to participate. Work is likely to be mostly demo of the existing structures.
4) Aaron Kamarajan provided a short update that he is planning to visit the Rotary Club of Parramatta to let them know about the planned walkathon at Parramatta Park next year.
5) Trudy Stevenson provided an update that CCA at Eastwood are requesting donations of items for Christmas gifts. Items to be collected at the next club meeting and the Christmas Party.
Trudy also reminded members that the earlybird registration for the 2023 Rotary Convention in Melbourne will end on December 15th. Anyone planning to attend
the Melbourne Convention, should ensure they have registered to avail of the reduced price.
